As a freelance DEI Content Advisor,  you’ll help Contently customers—some of the world’s most recognizable brands—produce inclusive, thoughtful content that reflects and promotes our diverse world. After learning our customer’s goals and potential challenges, you’ll help to uncover optimization opportunities and provide actionable recommendations for integrating DEI principles into their content program. You’ll focus on elevating our customer’s content program by building their audiences’ trust, and strengthening the brand’s authority and credibility.

General responsibilities:

• Identify optimization opportunities and spearhead changes or additions that make our customer’s content more inclusive and facilitate the representation of diverse groups (ethnicity, gender, abilities, religion, culture, age, sexuality, +)
• Workshop a customer’s style guide to include DEI-minded elements
• Understand the DEI landscape and shed light on best practices
• Advise on how to apply evolving language or knowledge, inclusive and accessible designs, and copy edits that are intentional and compassionate.
• Prime your writers and editors to think critically as they’re creating content
• Think about elements such as navigation for those who are hearing or visually impaired. For example, using alt-text for every digital image published, not distinguishing options by color only, using captions for all videos, including transcripts for audio or video interviews.
• Can perform audits focusing on DEI values to ensure there’s representation, and help the client refine their DEI goals when it comes to how & where in their content.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience working on DEI initiatives in content marketing
• Experience working and communicating with a remote team

Compensation is billed hourly and paid monthly via PayPal; the rate for this role is $75/hour.
